The Jazz Concert at  the church on the 3rd Dec
was a great success.  The acoustics
were great and Mike sounded a bit like Dean Martin.  Lynn sang brilliantly with a bad throat, so I would love to hear her sing when she is well.  Brilliant musicians also.  The shortbread was the best ever.  (So I am told as alas I can not eat it), apparently made by Dave the postman.  Thanks to Abbi for the idea and to all who decorated the church, rang the bells and prepared and served the refreshments.  Fantastic evening.  Shame about the weather - the car park was very muddy.  Won't it be great when the bells have been restored, the new hall has been built with a lovely car park.
(Soon I hope)

Fourthwall contemporary Theatre entertained us with Graham Greene's
  'Travels with my Aunt'

Although the play started late as 2 of their members were delayed as the train was delayed they did a great job in a confined space.
The event was well attended by parishioners.  Nic, the chap who played the old Aunt, (second from left),really threw himself into the part.  I think that Cruwys Morchard hall was very lucky to be chosen by this talented group of people to host this event, and I estimate that we made  around £160 which is an added bonus.

The Variety Show in September was fantastic.  New WayV and friends entertained us with a wide range of songs to suite all tastes.  Their version of Grease was great with Miranda doing a very realistic 'John Travolta'  A friend of Ruth's very kindly acted as lighting technician which made a huge improvement.
The evening raised £255 for FORCE Cancer Charity and also raised £73 each for New Hall funds and Wayvillage Restoration Fund.
Thanks everyone for coming, also those who provided nibbles and draw prizes but especially New WayV and Friends for all their hard work, including hours spent on rehersals and costumes.
Well done everyone and the 50 or so people who attended.

THE CHURCH FETE ON SAT 9th JULY

The weather was kind and lots of fun was had by all.
Jolly music was played through the afternoon.
There were some yummy cakes for sale and some excellent draw prizes.
The draw made £191 and an early estimate of the total raised is about £1000 for our parish church.
THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED AND A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO
ALL WHO CAME ALONG AND MADE IT A GREAT COMMUNITY EVENT>

Another Birthday Party at the Hall on Fri 25th February.
Congratulations to Dave Vincent who was also given a surprise party by his family for his 60th.  The hall looked lovely and it was very different to have it at Mid-day.  Fantastic Lunch and great afternoon.
Donations in lieu of presents were given for new hall funds.

Birthday Party 12th Feb at the parish hall
My 55th was also a Surprise 70th for my Cousin Freda.
We have lived in the parish for a total of 121 years.  Freda was born at Hookway Farm.  The party raised £420 for new hall funds in donations in lieu of presents, a bar, and a draw which raised £100 of that.  A big thank you to all who helped and came.  A huge Thank you to Phil from The Tiverton Canal Company, (click here for Canal's website), for providing the music free-of-charge.  It was great fun.  The dancing ranged from The Barn Dance to a bit of 'Head Banging' to Status Quo's 'Rocking all over the World' and some up-to-date Pop.
A fantastic evening, great fun and a good result.
This must have been the best kept secret in the parish!

Fri 28th Jan. The Men of Morchard evening was really funny.
The Men had us all in stitches again with some very naughty jokes, along with some familiar tunes with very clever new words to them.
We raised £363.73. This was their last time at our hall, and 2011 is their final year of raising money for various charities.  Their last two events will be at Morchard Bishop.  If you would like to see them before they finish please ring Mandy Tapp on 01363 877459
A very big thank you to everyone who helped before, during and after the event and donated draw prizes.  Special thanks to Lynnette for the lovely flower arrangements and to Sarah, (Fieldfare Foods), for making the soup.  The hall was so cold we needed it.  It is good to get non-committee members offering the help.

The Quiz evening in December was very well attended and raised a fantastic £447.28Winning Team was 'Come on Eileen'

Saturday 7th August was Cruwys Morchard's FIRST Breakfast & Brunch
There was a steady flow of hungry people and 14 ladies working hard from 6am until 2pm.  We used 44 tins of Beans and Tomatoes, 7 loaves of bread and several cartons of juice, and about 130 eggs.  Several people asked to book a table for the following Saturday, but I declined and said maybe by next year.  Thank you to everyone who helped or supported the event, we made just over £400 for new hall funds.
We are hoping to hold our second one on Sat 6th August 2011, 7am - 2pm, providing we can get enough helpers.  If you would like to help, please CONTACT US

The Annual Church Fete at the Parish Hall - Saturday 10th July 2010
The weather brightened up after lunch, and everyone enjoyed the day.

The White Elephant Stall - Baby not for sale

The Draw Prizes for the Parish Hall Bingo on Saturday 24th April.  £220.34 was raised to help the old hall be maintained, which was almost double what we normally make.  Thank you to family and friends who donated most of this month's draw prizes, thus saving us some money, and also on May the 8th when we had an extra bingo to pay for crockery and items needed for the kitchen.  We raised £106.19.

The Annual Spring Concert
Parish Hall 23rd April
It was a fantastic evening the YFC and The Cruwys Misiles had us in stitches.  There was also singing and dancing. We are so lucky to have so many talented people in the parish. We must also remember the people behind the scene who give up their time to organise these things.  Thankyou everyone. The ladies provided us with a lovely supper and the evening raised the grand sum of £668.63 for New Hall Funds

 Concert at Wayvillage Congregational Chapel

Wednesday 31st March 2010
featuring local group New WayV

Lead by Rev Ruth Green, Lynette, Miranda, Maxine and Jackie
The concert was very enjoyable, we sung a few hymns in between listening to New WayV and solos by Jackie, and Maxine who did a number from the show 'Les Mis'.  The group also sang one of my favourite pop songs from the sixies - I'll never find another you.  After, we all had a nice warm cuppa and a chat.  Well done everyone, looking forward to the next one soon!

Pink Bingo Room Draw Prizes On March 27th
The Parish Hall Committee's first Bingo this year was held to raise money for hall funds and Breast Cancer Care. (Pink Bingo) A total profit of £207.19 was raised. (£117.47 went to Breast Cancer Care).

Friday 5th March 2010

Ten men (and one lady) had the audience in fits of laughter, some of the jokes were old but the gentleman who told them made them refreshingly funny.  The magic was very diffferent.  The music was fantastic, with some old songs with new words - some very comical indeed.  You had to be there really to appreciate just how fantastic the evening was.  The hall was filled with laughter.and despite it's worstening condition, looked very pretty, with blue and white tablecloths and matching floral arrangements.  Mary, Marilyn & Sarah M spent all morning slaving over a hot stove and were helped by Lynnette, Cissy & Carol in the afternoon. Other committee members also helped with arranging furniture, running the bar and draw, and greeting the guests.  A very tasty and plentiful buffet was enjoyed by the 68 attendees.
The evening was spectacular and a first for the parish.  The 'Men' have been booked for Friday January 28th 2011.  If you missed them,  reserve your ticket now for the 28th Jan!
